Persephone is the ancient Greek goddess of spring (and Queen of the underworld), both the youthful spring goddess of growing plants , and the bride of Hades, lord of the dead, spending half the year in each realm. This scent mostly personifies her mysterious underworld aspect, and is truly one of the deepest darkest fragrances I've ever made (the oil is absolutely black!) A surprising sweet and spicy blackberry top note, with a juicy peach and heady narcissus, followed by rich notes of vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, myrrh and labdanum, this complex and earthy fragrance reminds me of an offering of red wine poured on to fertile black soil ( a good Merlot, to be exact!) Dark, powerful . assertive and intriguing. Try layering with Fire of Isis, Tart, or Woodland Fey. Also nice with Wicked Mara (Wicked Collection).

This magical fragrance
I 1st encountered Aromasanctim in Salem Massachusetts. Their lovely store introduced me to a perfume called witchfire which I wear to this day alternating with Persephone. But to speak about the fragrance I can't praise it enough. Like Witch fire, it is lovely, long lasting and mysterious. The fragrance transports you someplace else when you close your eyes and breathe it in you could be in a temple in Egypt or a mysterious woods... The scent changes as the different notes play out.. I've gotten so many compliments over the years that they've become my signature scent. I'm a nurse and one of my long time patients said to me that she can smell it floating in the hallway lightly and the smell makes her know that I am there and she feels safe so now she associates the smell with comfort and safety. One of the best compliments I ever got.

Spicy!
My good friend had given me a sample of Persephone she had received after purchasing Celestial Smoke for her mother. She gave the sample to me because of how “spicy” the scent is and historically, deep spicy scents suit me. LOVE this scent.
